Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year at Lois and Jerry Tarkanian Middle School (TMS). My name is Reece Oswalt and it is an honor to be going into my third year as the principal of TMS. I moved to Las Vegas twenty years ago from my hometown of Ottumwa, Iowa. As an educator, I have worked as an elementary and middle school teacher, a college professor, and an assistant principal. I have also been the principal of Sue H. Morrow Elementary School and the principal of Charles and Phyllis Frias Elementary School. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa, and both my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. On a personal note, my wife, Bethany, is a Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) teacher at Evelyn Stuckey Elementary School and we have three daughters, Addison, Kendall, and Payton. Addison is thirteen years old and Kendall and Payton are nine year old twins. In my limited spare time, I enjoy golfing, fishing, watching the Hawkeyes, Golden Knights, and Rebels, and spending time with my girls.
